Use 1901 Fort Place SE. Admission and on-site parking are free, and no pass is normally required. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except December 25. From Anacostia Metro, transfer to the C29 bus; groups of ten or more are encouraged to register ahead.

Accessibility

All public areas and entrances are wheelchair accessible, with designated parking, ramp drop-off, automatic doors, elevators, accessible restrooms, service-animal access, and free first-come manual wheelchairs. Sign-language interpretation and disability accommodations can be requested about two weeks ahead.

Founded in 1967, it presents rotating exhibitions, public programs, community research, collections, gardens, tours, and events away from the National Mall.
